Obituary of Nancy Margaret McFarland

Nancy Margaret McFarland, 84, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away November 19, 2023 at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

She was born on December 3, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Gus Emmett Adams, Jr. and Martha Margaret Swarner Adams.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Peyton "Mac" McFarland; daughter, Deborah (Dana) Ohlsson; grandsons, Christopher (Jordan) Ohlsson and Stefen Ohlsson; great grandson, Bryce Ohlsson; brother, Hugh Adams; sisters, Elizabeth Thomas and Melanie Stepherson; 3 stepchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, reading, Lady Gamecocks basketball, and traveling with her daughter. She loved cheering on the sidelines for her grandchildren and great grandson. Nancy cherished time with her family and they will be comforted by many warm memories with her.

The family will have a private viewing and graveside service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Special Olympics, or Oliver Gospel in Columbia, SC.
