Obituary of Jerry W. Anderson

Jerry Willard Anderson, 85, passed away quietly surrounded by his family on November 19, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, SC.  He was born on June 27, 1938 in West Columbia, South Carolina, the only son to Raymond and Annie Mae Anderson.  He was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School.  Jerry was a US Army veteran who served as a missile technician during the 1950s.  Before retiring, Jerry owned his own furniture business and worked for The State Newspaper for over 20 years.  Jerry was a long-time member and Deacon of Congaree Baptist Church.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Pearl Tidwell; his wife, Catherine Anderson; his children, Kimberly Hunt, Steven Anderson (Karen), and Brian Anderson (Dawn).  He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Jessica Ray, Andrew Hunt, Abigail Anderson, Bradley Anderson, Isabella Anderson, great grandchild, Ava Hunt, Sadie Ray and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Annie Mae Anderson and his beloved sister, Estelle Hartsell.

The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd, Lexington, SC, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 5:00PM – 7:00PM.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Congaree Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Freeman officiating, with the interment immediately following the service at Southland Memorial Gardens. 

Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
