Obituary of Virginia K. Taylor

Virginia K. Taylor, 97, died on Monday, September 18, 2023.  Born in Lexington County on June 11, 1926. She worked at Dixianna Lumber Company, Jenkinsville Lumber Company, Dunbar Funeral Home and retired from the University of South Carolina.  She was a long standing member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church of Cayce, South Carolina and member of several auxiliary organizations.

Surviving are her devoted husband, Roy Taylor; son, Jack D. Klear (Carolyn G. Klear); and two daughters, Nancy K. Ellis (James H. Ellis) and Frankie K. Gassaway (Dempsey J. Gassaway); 8 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Two sisters, Dorothy S. Spires and Martha S. Wright, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Jack, Doc and Bill Swygert and sisters Gladys Taylor, Mary Ruth Ficklin and Bonnie Lawson.

A memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home at 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, S.C. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Virginia’s honor to Transfiguration Luthern Church in Cayce, S.C.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Carolina Gardens facility and staff for their outstanding kindness and care.
