Obituary of Betty Sue Monts

Betty Monts, 85, of West Columbia, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 10, 2023 with her family by her side. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 13, at 1:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home with a service following at 2:00pm in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel.   Pastor Wade Roof with Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church will be officiating.

Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late Wilkins and Ethel Shehane Wilson. Surviving are sons, Garry (Gina) and Derek (Annette) Monts; daughter, Cindy (George) Melonas; grandchildren, Stephen (Laura) and Savannah Melonas, Cody, Sara and Hanna Monts; great-grandchildren, Russell and Adalynn Melonas; and sister, Lynette (Frank) Brown. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Homer; sister, Helen Jacques; and brothers, Albert and Clyde Wilson.  Pallbearers are Garry Monts, Derek Monts, George Melonas, Cody Monts, Stephen Melonas, and Jerry Dooley.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care given to their mother from MSA Hospice.  A special thank you to her caregiver, Sylvia "Curly" Haynes for the unconditional love and joy she brought to our sweet mama.
