Obituary of Nelda Kaminer

Nelda Taylor Kaminer, 90, of West Columbia, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, after an extended illness. She was born in Brevard County, Florida, and grew up there. She was the daughter of the late Columbus Jones Taylor and Lessie Jumper Taylor. She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Duvall Kaminer, three sisters, Violet, Myrl, Elizabeth and her niece, Enid Watson.

For many years, she was an active member of St. David Lutheran Church, where she was a member of WELCA and served on the altar guild. She loved flowers, sewing, cooking, baking and enjoyed volunteer work.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Keatley (Greg); son, Brian Kaminer (Karen); grandchildren, Brandon Keatley (Megan), Brett Keatley (Ashley), Brooke West (Stuart) and Kelsey Metcalf (Wade). Also, great grandchildren, Marlo Keatley, Wells Metcalf, Claire Keatley and soon to be Baby Ryker West, as well as her special niece, Carolyn (Marty) and brother in law, James Kaminer.

The family would like to thank longtime caregivers, Tammy Pressley (9 years) and Shawndra Hall (5 years) of Mom’s loving care and support over the years. Special thanks to the other wonderful individuals who also helped us out over the years.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at St. David Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of the service at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. David Lutheran Church, 132 St. David Church Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
