Obituary of Stephanie Mangan

Stephanie Mangan, 70, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away August 11, 2023, at The Columbia Presbyterian Community Lexington, South Carolina.

Stephanie was born in Greenville, S.C. but lived most her life in Columbia. She was predeceased by her parents David Joseph and Winifred Morris Mangan. She is survived by one sister Suzette Mangan Bryson (Thomas Bryson Jr.)

Stephanie was a graduate of Dreher High School. After high school, she received her BA in biology from Columbia College. Continuing her education at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, Stephanie entered into the School of Cytotechnology program, later becoming registered. Her first job was a Cytotechnologist at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC. Stephanie then next moved back to Columbia, working for Physicians Clinical Laboratory as their Cytotechnologist. The last professional position she held was working for LabCorp serving as the Supervisor of Cytotechnology, Histology, and Medical Transcription.

Steph, as she was called, had an interest and participated in many organizations. Her passion was that of the welfare of animals and at one point a board member of the Animal Protection League. She also volunteered as a Science Fair judge for Richland School District 1, member and served as an officer in Carolina Business and Professional Women, and an officer in State BPW. Steph's most beautiful and rewarding time was training and completing the Hospice Program at the Baptist Hospital. Going on a medical mission trip to Venezuela with the Nashville Baptist Convention was a most memorable time for her.

Steph was baptized at 10 yrs. old and a lifelong member at Shandon Baptist Church. Working with GA's 1st-6th grade girls, Sunday School teacher with 3yr. olds and an active member of Sunday School until she was no longer able to attend were some of her participations.

Funeral services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29206 on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 1:30PM with Reverend Dennis Banks officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 12:00PM. A private, family only interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum following the chapel service
