Obituary of Joyce Elaine Love

Joyce Elaine Love, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, after a long illness.  She was born November 24, 1949, in Brewton, Alabama, to Claud and Arie Lee Durden Dawkins.  After the family settled in Columbia, SC, she graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1969. She was employed by the state as a certified nurse’s assistant for twenty five years. After retirement, she often helped friends and neighbors with rides to doctor appointments or grocery stores. She loved her lunches from The United House of Prayer.

Elaine is predeceased by her parents.  She is survived by her son, Christopher H. Love; brothers, O'Neal Dawkins (Lisa), Kenneth Dawkins (Michelle), Patrick Dawkins, Philip Dawkins (Tammy); and sister, Brenda Harmon.

Family was important to Elaine as she was always staying in touch and checking on her parents and her siblings by phone. She always remembered to wish Happy Birthday to her friends and family on their special day. Her son Chris was her pride and joy.

The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
