Obituary of Roy Hendrix, Sr.

Columbia - Roy “Paul” Hendrix, Sr., age 86, passed away Friday, August 4th, 2023. He was born August 18th, 1936 in Commerce, Georgia to the late Roy and Mamie Hendrix. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a son, Watson Talbert Hendrix (Rocky), brothers Arthur, Walter and Johnny Hendrix, two grandchildren, Asheton Tyler Hendrix and Sophie Marie Watson.

Mr. Hendrix is survived by his former wife and beloved companion, Joyce V. Hogan; brother Jimmy Hendrix(Lisa); sons Roy Paul Hendrix Jr. (Laura), Roderick Walton (Ricky) Hendrix, Rochelle Blair Hendrix (Michelle); daughter Melodie Ann White; fifteen grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Paul was a loving son, father, uncle, grandfather, brother and friend. His favorite saying was…Family is where life begins and love never ends. Paul loved his family very much and his love will always be imprinted on the hearts of his children. He was active for over 20 years supporting fundraisers/organizations within the SC Troopers Association. Paul was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his sports, supporting the Georgia Bulldogs, USC Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Madison, GA at a later date. Arrangements will be made by A. E. Carter Funeral Home, 1670 Atlanta Hwy, Madison, GA.
