Obituary of Mary Morrell Haygood

Mary Morrell Haygood, 74, of Horrell Hill, died Saturday, August 5th, 2023 due to cancer. She is survived by daughter, Kathleen Michelle Austin (Jeff); son, Michael Wade Haygood; grandchildren, Brittany Haygood Dennis (B.J.), Tyler, Tanner and Anna Austin and Hunter Haygood; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Waylon, Dawson and Sadie Bea; sister, Toni Muller; brothers, Bob Morrell (Nancy) and Mark Morrell (Terrie); sister-in-law, Frankie Bedell Haygood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Clarence Haygood and her parents, Robert Hanly Morrell and Kathleen Hook Morrell.

Mary’s passions were her love of Mike, her high school sweetheart, the family they created, the coast of SC and flounder fishing with Mike. Mary was a graduate of Lower Richland High School and attended Presbyterian College. She retired from Sylvamo Eastover Mill (formerly International Paper) in accounting where she started in 1984.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Heart of Hospice staff for their diligent care and kindness they shared with Mary. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Friday, August 11^th. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest by her husband.
