Obituary of Robert Benny Spruill

On Monday, July 3, 2023, our beloved husband, father, and Papa, Robert “Bob” Benny Spruill, went to heaven. Bob was 83.

Born December 20, 1939, in Childress, Texas, he was the son of the late Jasper Ezell Spruill and Natalie Spruill Burk. Married for 59 years, Bob was the devoted and loving husband to Shirley G. Spruill. Bob was a veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Airforce and the National Guard. He was a salesman and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Gamecocks on the football field.  He was a “foodie” who loved chocolate and liked to try new dishes.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and was proud Papa to his grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Jasper Spruill and Natalie Burk; his in-laws, Henry and Margot Gainey; his brother, Larry Spruill (Pam Spruill); his sisters, Rosemary Spruill and Wanda Spruill Myers and her husband Buddy Myers. Survivors include, wife, Shirley; daughters, Christie Spruill Cook and her husband Michael (Mike) Cook, Lisa Karen Spruill; son, Robert “Craig” Spruill; grandchildren, Natalie Michael Cook, Robert “Michael” Cook and fiancée, Sara Freeman, and Henry “David” Cook;  also surviving are his sister, Carol Spruill, and his nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held in the Fall.
