Obituary of Harriet Shealy
Harriet Sylvia Shealy, 79, of Lexington, went home to be with the Lord on June 30, 2023. Harriet was born on December 1, 1943, to the late JD and Juanita Risinger Shealy. She grew up as one of 3 daughters in a loving family. Harriet, affectionately known as "Mama", "Nanny", "Ms. Harriet", "Tip / Aunt Tip", loved many things but her church and her family are the two things she loved most. She spent years pouring her heart into teaching Sunday School and leading Vacation Bible School. Harriet loved cooking and baking for her big family and her family enjoyed it just as much. She also loved to sew and craft. She was feisty and spoke her mind, but she loved big, and she loved hard. Her pride shined brightly for 5 grandchildren and soon to be 9 great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy.
Harriet is survived by her sister, Doretha Crolley, her son Rodney (Anita) Jones, her two daughters Crystal (Ken) Boatwright, Candi (Teddy) Steen, 5 grandchildren with their spouses (Tosha, Justin, Jamee, Carlson and Carlee), 7 great-grandchildren (Addie, Baylor, Bates, Forrest, Dallas, Capers, and Tinslee), and a nephew, Allan Ricard, who has been so special to her for many years.
Harriet is predeceased by her parents, her sister June Ricard, and her great-grandson Cohen Thomas New.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, July 6th at Nazareth Lutheran Church, 1800 Nazareth Road, Lexington. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5th from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd, Lexington.
