Obituary of Jean Herlong Parris

Jean Herlong Parris, 78, of Columbia went home to be with the lord on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was born on February 18, 1945, to the late Wallace Watson Herlong and Mary Alice Dominick Herlong. She was predeceased by her husband, James William “Bill” Parris. She is survived by her children, Jolie Taylor (Scott) of Pawleys Island, SC, James William Parris, Jr. (Amber) of Greenwood, SC, and Jennifer Adams (Mickey) of Pelion, SC; grandchildren, Haley Parris, Austin Taylor, Lauryn Parris, Ashlyn Parris, Emily Adams, and James “Trace” Parris III; great grandchildren, Steven Roberts, Mary Jean Roberts, and Brady James Roberts; sisters, Valerie Thurman of Corryton, TN and Mary Hall of Lexington, SC; brother, Wallace Watson Herlong, Jr. (who passed away the following day) of Lexington, SC. She was a graduate of Columbia High School in 1963 and retired from the Columbia City Police Department. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was very proud of her children, grands and great grandchildren.
