Obituary of Katheryne Cunningham Peters

Katheryne (Kathy) Cunningham Peters, 76, of Leesville, SC passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in Lexington, SC. Kathy was born in Columbia, SC on November 25, 1946, to the late Ruby Katheryne Johnson Cunningham and Thomas James Cunningham. She attended Dreher High School.

Kathy married Howard Joseph Peters, Jr. after meeting on a blind date, and celebrated 57 years of marriage on May 15, 2023. They had three children, and three grandchildren. Kathy and her husband Joe owned Midlands Xray Sales and Service, Inc. for thirty years.  Together they enjoyed traveling, cruising around the world, and spending time at Edisto Beach, SC with family and friends.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Howard Joseph Peters, Jr.; children, Brad Peters, Tonja (Kevin) Ivey, Heather (Todd) Pickler; siblings, Rick (Angie) Cunningham and Tommy Cunningham; and grandchildren, Kayla Pickler, Zachary Pickler and Josie Pickler.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home at 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home at 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11 am, with burial to follow at Cresent Hill Memorial. Family will be accepting guests at their home following the service.
