Obituary of Marcella Young
It is with great sadness that the family of Marcella Young share that she entered her eternal heavenly home on June 10, 2023, at the age of eighty-nine. Though no longer with us physically, her servant’s heart, thoughtful ways, kindness, and loving spirit will live in our hearts as an example to follow.
Marcella was born in upstate New York. She believed in Jesus Christ, our savior, and lived a life of selfless service. She was the daughter of Alfred Crosson and Katherine Brennen. She had four brothers, Jerry, Bernie, Leland, and Gene; and two sisters, Phyllis, and Marlene. Marcella was the last surviving sibling. She entered the Air Force after high school and while working as a radiology technician and flight attendant, met the love of her life, Wilfred (Bill) Turner Young, also in the Air Force. They were married for 32 years before his passing in 1993. She had a love for music and was skilled at playing the piano and guitar. Marcella was active in the Lexington community serving in many youths related capacities: Team Mom, Girl Scout Mom, stats keeper, baseball concession stand attendant and more. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, crocheting, bird watching, photography, watching sports and more than anything, spending time with her family. She lived a full life as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Being a homemaker and stay at home mom was her most important role but later in life she worked for Southern Installations and The South Carolina Tax Commission. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Turner (Bill) Young. She is survived by her children: David Young (Brenda), Norma Young Jumer (Danny), and Charlie Young (Michele); grandchildren: Andy Young (Amanda), Megan Keith (Shon), Hannah Jumer, Rebekah Jumer, Jack Young, Claire Young, and Ella Young.
