Obituary of Roger Springer

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, Roger L. Springer, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 74.

 

Roger was born on April 23, 1949 in Weston, West Virginia to William and Irene Springer. He joined the military in 1964 and retired with honorable discharge as Sergeant first class in 1984. In 1972, he married Chu Sun Kim, and they raised a son and a daughter, Mark Springer and Kimberly Springer.

 

Roger had a passion for music and he loved to tell stories. He loved to listen to his favorite artist Elvis Presley and play his guitar and sing for all of his friends and family. He was always the life of the party and everyone loved him because he always had a crazy story to tell. He used to love making people laugh. Other things he enjoyed, was fishing and shooting his guns with his son.

 

Roger was preceded in death by his father, William; his mother, Irene; sisters, Patty and Darlene; stepdad, Jim; and cousin, Vincent. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; his two children, Mark Springer, and Kimberly Springer; brothers, Earl Springer and Jimmy McGrail; sisters, Barbara Stowe, Debbie, Linda, Sharon, and  Alison; his four grandchildren, Alyssa Springer, Ryan Springer, Haley, Isenhour and Joseph Mozee; and many more cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

A funeral service will be held on June 13th at Thompson Funeral Home on Augusta Road in Lexington, South Carolina at 12:00 PM, followed by graveside services at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Flowers or donations may be sent to Thompson Funeral Home.
