Mable Groves Stephens of Cayce, took her place in Heaven on June 4, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Elizabeth (Polly) Groves and was born June 9, 1934 in Kershaw County. She was just 5 days short of her 89th birthday.
Mable is survived by her loving husband, Allen, as well as daughters Pat Grice, Terri Snelgrove (Wendell), Edith Bryan (Stan), and son Jerry Branham (Rhonda), a daughter in law, Michele as well as a sister Gloria Drinkard (Duke). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons Davy, Clyde (who will forever be known as “Wayne”), and Rick, sisters Elizabeth (Lib), Connie and brother Billy.
Mable was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother. Five generations strong. We are blessed to know that her legacy will live on in these children, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wants the world to know that Mable was a woman of strong Christian faith who loved the Lord and we are happy knowing that she is rejoicing in Heaven and finally reunited with her sons. She is at peace, happy and pain free.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington at 3:30 pm. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
The honor of carrying her to her final resting place at Woodridge Memorial Park will be shared by pallbearers Brian Grice, Davey Grice, Shane Grice, Brett Kirby, Catoe White and Jonathan White.
Mable loved all children’s and animal charities and donated generously. We ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, Shriners Hospital or the ASPCA.
Her favorite color was purple. Please feel free to wear something purple as we celebrate her life.
And always remember these words “I Love You More”.
