Obituary of Phyllis Jean Baxter
Phyllis Baxter passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at her home in Lexington, SC where she had lived for over 50 years. Born in Gilbert, West Virginia on June 25, 1942, she moved to South Carolina in 1967 where she spent the rest of her days. She retired several years ago from Penske Truck where she had worked filling many roles.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of over 50 years, John Baxter; sister, Fredia Tarlton; niece, Kristi Tarlton; and nephew, Michael Coffey (Susan).
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Easter Mitchell and Clarence Coffey; and her brother, Steven Coffey.
Phyllis was a member of many years at Christian Life Church of Columbia, South Carolina, and her greatest joy was serving the Lord.
Phyllis was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile could light up a room and she cared deeply for the people in her life. She was a kind and compassionate person who made an impact on many lives and her hugs were something you didn’t forget. She will be greatly missed.
