Obituary of Alex Blaine Zipperian

A Special Life Remembered

Alex Blaine Zipperian, 37, of Columbia, SC passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home in Hopkins, SC. He was born on August 24, 1985 in Townsend, Montana to Dan and Emily Zipperian.

After graduating from Dreher High School, Alex went on to obtain his degree from EPCI and worked both locally and abroad in the field of technology. He loved to travel with his work, especially enjoying his time working in Qatar. Alex had a love for the outdoors where he spent much of his time over the years fishing out on the water. A lifetime Gamecock fan, Alex also enjoyed spending time with his friends watching and cheering for his team. He loved all of his family and friends, always wanting the best for them. Most of all, he was a devoted son to his mother, Emily, whom he loved dearly.

Alex is survived by his father and step-mother, Dan and Christy Zipperian; his siblings, Dane, Kasey, Nate, and Shelby Zipperian and Nichol Zipperian Martin; his grandmother, Sherry Zipperian; Uncles and Aunt, Mark and Julie Zipperian, Gary Zipperian; and Cousins, Eric Zipperian, Kristin McCaualey, Wyatt Zipperian, Tami McCarthy, Shawn Zipperian, Josh Smith, Cassie Miller, Bryan Zipperian, and Drew Zipperian, all of Montana. He is also survived by Uncles and Aunt, Jonny and Elizabeth Thompson of Lexington, SC; Gary Phillips of Columbia, SC; and Jim Grayson of Greenville SC; and Cousins, Katie Thompson of Greenville, SC; Emmie Thompson of Columbia, SC; Mark and Kristin Phillips of Los Angeles,California; and Brian and Allison Grayson of Greenville, SC. Alex was predeceased by his mother, Emily Zipperian Jones; his grandfathers, Roy Thompson, Jr. and John Zipperian; his step-grandfather, Myles Phillips; his Aunts, Carlene Grayson and Beth Phillips; his Uncle, Kenny Zipperian; and his cousin, Phillip Zipperian.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, with Interment to follow. Memorials for Alex may be made to the University of South Carolina at donate.sc.edu to dedicate a gift in his memory.
