Obituary of Mary Nell Bullock

Mary Nell Stokes Bullock

August 7, 1941-April 12, 2023

Our loving wife and mother Mary Nell Stokes Bullock, returned to our Heavenly Father on April 12, 2023, on a beautiful spring day in Lexington, South Carolina.

Nell leaves behind a devoted husband, Gary Allen Bullock. Together they raised a wonderful family.

Nell was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints. She held various callings throughout her years as a member of the church including Relief Society President, Primary counselor, and ward missionary. She also served in the Columbia, SC LDS Temple as an ordinance worker.

Nell was good friend and always made a point to talk to everyone when she attended an event. She loved decorating for holidays, with Christmas being her favorite holiday.

The cruel disease of dementia started robbing her family of her fun personality around 10-years ago. The last three years being especially hard.

Nell was born on August 7, 1941, the third child of five children of George and Kate Stokes. She is survived by her high school sweetheart, Gary. They were together for 63-years, married for 59-years. Nell and Gary had three children, Alisa Eileen Weese (David), Gary Allen Bullock Jr. (Cindy), Anna Lynn Bullock-Franks (Jenny); three grandchildren, Gabrielle June Ouzts (James), Natasha Lynn Jensen (Arik), Benjamin David Weese (Eren); seven great grandchildren, with number 8 on the way. Nell is also survived by her older sisters, Sarah Roberts and Betty Smith (Don); brother-in-law, Richard Bullock; nieces and nephews.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents and two younger brothers, Ray & Larry Stokes.

A celebration of Nell will take place on April 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home 4720 Augusta Rd. Lexington, SC.

We will miss Nell but find peace in knowing we will see her again.
