Obituary of Lillian Kinard

Mrs. Lillian Roberts Campbell Kinard, 94, resident of West Columbia, and wife of Roger Harvey Kinard, passed away on March 22, 2023, at Agape House of Lexington.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Betty was the daughter of the late William C. Roberts, Sr., and Lillian Lee Roberts. A graduate of Columbia High School, she worked as the office manager at Lee, Eadon, Isgett Law Office, for 27 years.

Betty’s greatest love was serving her church and spending time with her family. She sang in the Platt Springs United Methodist Church for 30 years, served as a Sunday School teacher, active in the Women’s Society of the Church and was chosen as Woman of the Year. She also enjoyed traveling and camping with family.

Betty is survived by her husband, Roger Kinard; daughter, Renee C. Sowell (Charlie) of Irmo; as well as two brothers, Emerson Roberts (June) and Wylie “Buddy” A. Roberts (Linda) of Lexington, SC; Four grandchildren, Shannon Boxberger and Carla Adams of Silver Lake, Kansas, Jess Sowell and Charlie Sowell of Lexington and five great grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends that were special to her. She was predeceased by her parents as well as two sons, Lee Campbell, Jr. and Melvin R. Campbell; Son-In-Law Charlie Sowell; Four brothers, William C. Roberts, Jr., Ronald E. Roberts, Elmer Lee Roberts, and Melvin R. Roberts.

A Celebration of Betty’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2023 at Platt Springs United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Platt Springs United Methodist Church in Betty’s honor.
