Mr. Burgs and I were from the same hometown (Live Oak, Florida). I knew of him, but did not know him when I was growing up. I met him during a couple of FAMU functions here in Columbia. I knew his sisters, Mrs. Gertrude and Mrs. Rossie. Condolences to the family. Sorry for your loss. M. James

Brigadier General James (Jim) A. Burgs and I had a long-time friendship. We met thirty-seven years ago with a group of
Florida A&M University alumni to organize a Columbia Chapter of the FAMU Alumni Association. Some people enter your
life for a short time but others remain for reason. Jim was a good friend who always made me laugh which I am sure met a need I had. I will forever cherish the friendship we shared.
