Obituary of Joseph C. Langley, Jr.

Joseph Cecil “Joey” Langley, Jr., 60, of West Columbia, husband of Lynn Roland Langley, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Medical University of South Carolina, following an illness.

Born December 11, 1962, in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of Joseph Cecil “Joe” Langley, Sr. and the late Janie Catherine Brock Langley. Joey worked for many years in the information technology industry until his retirement. He was very active in his community; he was a member of Congaree Baptist Church where he served as deacon, coached Upward Basketball and played on the church softball team. Joey loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. For relaxation, Joey enjoyed woodworking and was very creative. His family stated he was a very social person, never meeting a stranger. But above all, Joey was a true family man. He loved his family and always found a way to spend quality time with them.

Joey is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lynn Roland Langley; a son, Corey Langley and wife, Ashley Alvarado of Columbia; a daughter, Meagan Huneycutt and husband, Kevin of West Columbia; his father and stepmother, Joe and Linda Langley of West Columbia; a granddaughter, Lilah Huneycutt; his father and mother in law, Derwood and Betty Roland; a brother in law, Chris Roland and wife Lisa; and a niece, Amberlyn Roland. He also leaves behind several cousins and other extended family and friends. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his beloved paternal grandparents, Cecil and Lorena Langley as well as his maternal grandparents, Reed and Lizze Mae Brock.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 24^th at Congaree Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
