Obituary of Jerry McGill Sr.

Jerry McGill Sr., 80, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away February 10, 2023 at Lexington Medical Center West Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on March 19, 1942 in Columbia, South Carolina to Vera Sharpe and John McGill.

Jerry is survived by his three sons Jerry McGill Jr. (Amanda), Brian McGill, and Scott McGill (Tara). He is also survived by his grandchildren Haley McGill, Cameron McGill (Tori), Carlie McGill, Andrew McGill, Josh McGill, Kaylyn Roof (Chris), Isaac Moore, and Audrey Moore. Additional surviving family are his great-grandchildren Scarlett McGill, Palmer McGill, Easton Roof, and Drayton Roof.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father John McGill and Vera Sharpe, his loving wife Linda, and his brother Toby Sharpe. He is also preceded in death by his grandchild Todd McGill (Chasity), and his daughter-in-law Tonya “Toni” McGill.

Jerry loved hunting and fishing with his sons and his wife, Linda. The family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited in Heaven with his wife of 59 years, Linda. He loved camping in his younger days and just spending time with his family. In his later years, he loved watching hunting, fishing, and game shows on TV. He also loved riding to the lake to just sit and watch the water. Probably his biggest joy of all was going to the buffet for dinner. He loved to eat. Especially dessert!

The pallbearers assisting will be Cameron McGill, Andrew McGill, Josh McGill, Chris Roof, Emondae Ruff, and Isaac Rabon.

Funeral services will be at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel on February 17, 2023 at 2:00PM with Pastor Don Bell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Celestial Memorial Gardens following the service.
