Obituary of Metter Joan Hott

Metter Joan Hott passed away on January 28th, 2023. She was 75 years old.

Joan is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda Gedwill and Carolyn Trantham (Jake); son, David Austin Brazell; grandson, Andrew Brazell (Mary); great grandchildren, Everett and McKenna Brazell; 2 nieces, 5 nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews. Joan is predeceased by her parents, John and Lucille Senn, and her brother, Frank Senn.

Joan was a lifelong resident in Richland county. She previously attended New Testament Baptist Church in Columbia. Most recently, she attended Congaree Baptist Church. She worked 37 years in Adjunct General’s Office of Personnel Branch. She received numerous awards during her career. She loved baking and was a cake decorator. She was also an avid reader.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2nd at 2pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Visitation will be held one hour prior, and a burial will follow the funeral service.
