Obituary of Vera E. Franklin

Vera was born September 9, 1931 in Laurens, South Carolina to James ‘Mac’ Maxwell Smith and Euzelia ‘Zip’ Pearson Taylor Smith. She passed peacefully on January 25, 2023.

Vera loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. She enjoyed taking them on cruises and places like New York; always offering any help for them. She loved country music, going to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry. Vera enjoyed being with friends on vacation, parties, and social events. Once you met her you were friends, she was a truly kind and loving person.

She was predeceased by her husband, ‘Wick’ Wilson Kinnard Franklin; daughter, RitaDale Franklin Smith of Lake City, South Carolina; siblings, Janie Sue Taylor Roof, Myrtle Taylor Gheen Estes, Kenneth Dean Smith, and James Everett Taylor. She is survived by her son, James Lyn Franklin (Shirley) of Elloree, South Carolina; grandsons, ‘Wil’ James Wilson Franklin of Lugoff, K. G. Smith, and Pearce Smith; granddaughter, (Love of her Life) Raylee Smith and son-in-law Rusty Smith, all of Lake City, South Carolina; step granddaughters, Melody Hall and Lisa Labombard; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She retired from Schneider Electric (Square ‘D’) at 80 years old. She was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Heart of Hospice, Kay, Debra, and Kaylie, and to Sheila Causey; to Wanda Goff for all the help and support, and to the Pallbearers, Mike Smith, Morgan Goff, Marshall Goff, David Brazell, Tommy Brazell, and Phillip Manual.
