Obituary of Betty Shull Wright
Betty Shull Wright left her earthly home on December 10 and is in the presence of the Lord. She was born on October 20, 1929, to the late Ernest Melton Shull and Allie Perry Shull. She was married to the late Robert Edward Wright, Sr., for 39 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Melanie Cring (Eric) and JoAnne Wright; sons, Danny Wright (Kitty) and Robert Wright, Jr. (Monica); grandchildren, Mickey Smithart , Michael Torres, Nikki Collins (Will), Dustin Smithart (Mallory), Dylan Torres, Robert Wright, III (Kelli), Jacob Wright, Morgan Munn (Justin), and Ryan Cring (Kristen). She was also a great-grandmother to ten.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her daughter Sharon Wright Torres.
Mimi, as she was affectionately known, enjoyed many activities to include her flowers, traveling, dancing, and bowling, but mostly being with her family. She also loved her church, Westside Baptist, of which she was a charter member. She retired from Belk department stores, and previously worked with her husband in the Wright Insurance Agency.
A celebration of life will be held at West Side Baptist Church in West Columbia on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 12 Noon with the Rev. Ray Wrobel officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow immediately after at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia. The family will receive friends on Monday at Thompson Funeral Home from 6 until 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church, 2100 Platt Springs Rd., West Columbia, SC, 29169.
