Obituary of Dale A. Lonkey

Dale Arthur Lonkey, age 82, from Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 16th, 2022 surrounded by his wife and brother.  He was born on October 29th, 1939, to Ernest and Gay Lonkey in Potsdam, NY.  Dale spent most of his life on the road as a OTR truck driver.  After he retired from being on the road, he enjoyed spending time with his family, beloved cats, watching movies and sports on TV, especially hockey and baseball. 

Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Janet L. Lonkey.  He is also survived by his daughter, Debra McGurn (Charlie) of Pittsford, NY; son, Robert Varney (Sundari) of Elgin, SC; grandchildren, Tyler Simon, Matthew Simon (Elizabeth), Aaron C. Lamb, Carrigan A. Lamb, Cedar A. Jacobs, Christopher Dilone, Alexis Varney, Cameron Varney; great-grandson, Wesley Simon; two brothers, Duane Lonkey and Richard Lonkey; one sister, Mevis Francia; and nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son, Eugene E. Lamb of Greensboro, NC.

Dale will forever be missed.  He will always be in our hearts and in the memories shared.  A memorial service for him will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the following:
