Obituary of Elizabeth Wade

Elizabeth “Betty” Williamson Wade, 74, went home to Jesus on Sunday, October 16, 2022.  She was born June 25, 1948 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Edwin Myers and Virginia Imogene Simmons Williamson of Belvedere, South Carolina.  Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Early McLeod Wade.   

Betty is survived by children, JJ Marcum (Brian), John Wade (Mimi), Ronald Wade, and Laura Wade; grandchildren, Jackson and Ella Jennings Marcum, Emily Domis (Chad), Catie Ellisor (Neil), and Elizabeth Marley (Julian); two sisters, Virginia Bodie (Jimmie) and Margaret Covington; one brother, Charles Edwin Williamson III (Marsha); and three great-grandchildren.  

Betty retired from the University of South Carolina where she had worked 30 years as a purchasing agent.  She was a huge Gamecock fan, enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and creating beautiful quilts for those she loved.  Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  

A visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the Woodridge Memorial Park Gazebo, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, South Carolina.  A private graveside service will follow for the family.
