Obituary of Charles Thomas Robertson

Charles Thomas Robertson, affectionately known as Charlie PopPop Cuz Mr. Tolerable Robertson, of West Columbia, passed away September 20, 2022. He was born on October 11, 1925 to the late Clifford and Lucille Robertson. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife, Bernice; his daughter, Janice Satterfield; and his granddaughter, Carrie Garner. A graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School, he went on to serve in the Navy during WW2, was a printing pressman at the State Printing Company, and was a charter member of Saluda River Baptist Church. 

Charlie is survived by daughters, Carol Robertson and Patty Crout (Keith); son-in-law, Scott Satterfield; grandchildren, Kevin Crout, Lauren Garner, Mark Garner (Jessie), Cory Crout (Connie), Shannon Harwell (Justin), and Michael Satterfield (Angela); 9 great-grandchildren; and his buddy, Socks. 

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Saluda River Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Yorio officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, in Lexington. His Saluda River Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saluda River Baptist Church, 3459 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia, SC 29169, or to the charity of your choice. 

 

Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of the arrangements.
