Obituary of Geraldine Elizabeth Judy

Geraldine Elizabeth Judy, 75, of Lexington, SC passed away on September 7, 2022.  A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was born to the late John R. Stokes, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth A. Stokes, on May 22, 1947 in Columbia, SC.  With a heart of gold and the soul of an angel, she showed compassion and love for others.  She would make you laugh at the most unexpected moments when nothing else could make you smile.  A beautiful woman who spoke her mind who was often referred to as a "Firecracker" by many.

Geraldine worked as a Cosmetologist for over 20 years.  She had a passion for making others beautiful; both living and deceased.  Although she began her career outside of the home, her dedication to her family gave her the strength to start her own beauty salon.  Her children loved to watch her work and would often join after school to help wash and set the ladies who visited.  There was never a moment her children felt their mom was too busy for her family.

Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and winding down by watching Law & Order reruns.  She loved to cook home-cooked meals for her family which often consisted of butter beans, neck bones, rice, and meatloaf.  Those memories of gathering around the kitchen table will last a lifetime.

Geraldine met her late husband, Gerald L. Judy, Sr. when they were teenagers and they married as high school sweethearts.  Together they raised three children.  They taught their children to always look for the best in whomever crossed their paths.  To always follow your heart and never second guess yourself.  But most importantly, to take care of each other, never regret your past, and cherish every day you have together.

Geraldine is survived by her three children, Gerald L. Judy, Jr., Deloris A. Brinson, and Mary F. Brinson; son-in-law, Brian K. Brinson, Sr.; grandchildren, Nicholas A. Judy, Chasity A. Brinson, Alexis N. Cooper, Brian K. Brinson, Jr., and Bailee N. Brinson; three great-grandchildren, Aiden F. Cooper, Landyn K. Cooper, and Braxton a. Cooper.  Geraldine was preceded in death by her two brothers, William R. Stokes, and John R. Stokes.

The family has entrusted Thompson Funeral Home with the arrangements.  A graveside memorial is scheduled for September 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM on the grounds of Southland Memorial Gardens.  The family welcomes the support and prayers of others as Mrs. Geraldine Elizabeth Judy is given to the angels to life in eternal peace.
