Obituary of Jeffrey T. Schaefer

Jeffrey T. Schaefer, 71, of Lexington, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Jeff was born on December 26, 1950 in Worthington, MN, to his parents Thomas Bernell Schaefer and Ruth Elaine (Wiener). After graduating High School in Marshall, MN in 1969, he entered the US Air Force. He proudly served in the US Air Force for 21 years and retired as a MSGT in 1991.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jayne Elizabeth (Lucas); son, Thomas Patrick Schaefer; daughter-in-law Christy Marie Schaefer (Boutte); grandsons, Christian Thomas Schaefer and Aaron Paul Schaefer of West Columbia; sister, Lynette Quiring of Terril, IA; Uncle Paul and Marcia Wiener of Loveland, CO; as well as a large extended family and friends from all over the country.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons who he adored and were his world. He enjoyed woodworking, doing various projects in his garage, camping, fishing and golf.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022 at 10 am. Services will be held at 11 am at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC, with burial to follow at 1 pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at 11:00am here, and the burial will be streamed at 1:00pm here.
