Obituary of James P. Guessford

James P. Guessford, Sr., 74, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away August 20, 2022 in Columbia, South Carolina. James was born August 25, 1947 in Kent County, Delaware, to Willard and Vivian (Dupree) Guessford. 

Mr. Guessford is survived by his longtime partner and girlfriend Patricia R. Painter of Columbia, SC; one son James Guessford, Jr. of Columbia, SC; one brother Dave Guessford of Delaware; one nephew Johnny (Michell) Guessford of Delaware; and 3 grandchildren.

James was a loving father and grandfather. He also was a carpenter by trade and loved to sing and write songs. Because of his love of music and his musical talent, James went to Nashville years ago and recorded several albums. 

Mr. Guessford was a member of the Jamil Schriners Club for Crippled Children. He also volunteered for the Underpriviledged Childrens Toy Drive in Otto, SC.

There will be a visitation from 11 – 12 pm at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Columbia, SC. A graveside service will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
