Obituary of George Samuel Taylor

George Samuel Taylor, Sammy, was called home early August 20,2022 after a long battle with ALS.

Born in West Columbia SC to Sammie and Lottie Taylor, May 3, 1954. He has three siblings who he treasured, Tina (Greg) Trapp, Jeanette James, and Jody Taylor.

Sammy worked his entire life in the construction industry. He was a master at his craft. There was also nothing he couldn't fix or do, his girls affectionally called him superman. His true love was his family. Sammy was a proud man. He was married to the love of his life, Elaine, for over 44 years. His two daughters, Alicia and Renea, were the apples of his eyes. He cherished and adored his five grandchildren, Gene, George, Elizabeth, Isabelle, and Paige. He will be sorely missed by a host of family and friends that he held dear to his heart.

In addition to his siblings, Sammy is survived by his wife, Elaine Taylor; daughters, Alicia (Gene) Hartsell, and Renea (Matt) Koen; five grandchildren; in-laws, Carolyn Forrest and Van Burn (Lillie) Forrest, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Special thanks to Heart of Hospice and LaDonya Hallman and Kristi Webster. Thank you for your kindness and gentleness in these last days.

A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Thompson Funeral of Lexington. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. A burial will follow at Travis Park Cemetery in Saluda, SC.
