Obituary of William Monroe Gardner

William “Bill” Monroe Gardner, age 52, left this earth too soon on Saturday, July 9, 2022. He was born on July 17, 1969 in Columbia, South Carolina, to Paul Gardner, Jr. and the late Joyce “Jolee” Gardner. 

Bill loved being outdoors, from racing with his best friend, hunting or being out on the water fishing. Bill loved to travel from countless Disney trips, cruises, Hawaii or anywhere Lakken wanted to go. She was his true pride and joy! Any time in between family trips, you could find Bill either in Cherokee or Las Vegas, due to his love for poker. In his recent years, he especially enjoyed poker nights with the Waffle House crew. Lakken would especially like to thank them for welcoming him in, as Bill found a new happiness, friends and looked forward to taking their chips every so often. 

Bill was a loving and devoted father and son. He was preceded by his loving mother, Jolee. He is survived by his father, Paul Gardner, Jr. (Shirley); his precious daughter, Lakken Monroe Gardner; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were more like family. 

The family will welcome friends and loved ones at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, on Thursday, July 14th from 5 – 7 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel of Lexington on Friday, July 15th at 2 pm. The burial to immediately follow at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia.
