Charlotte Ramsey

Obituary of Charlotte M. Ramsey

On July 5th, 2022, Charlotte Murray Ramsey moved from her earthly home to her heavenly home and was united with her heavenly father. Born on April 11th, 1934 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of Norita Dunn Murray and Charles Kinkaid Murray, and later the daughter of Leo S. Parker. She was reborn on April 11th, 1944 and was a mission’s volunteer.

She was a graduate of Westhampton College in Richmond, VA and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. She worked with her husband, a Baptist Minister, in the churches that he served. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia and taught the Agape Sunday School class. She was a writer of adult Sunday School lessons for the Southern Baptist Convention. She loved Bible study, the church, and music.

Charlotte felt an obligation to care for people and for God’s creatures. She was president of the Fido Dog Rescue in Columbia. Her objective was, “I can no more leave a starving dog on the streets than I could leave a starving person.” Many dogs were rescued under her ministry.

She leaves on her earthly home her brother, Merritt “Buddy” (Beth) Murray; a cousin, Katherine Phillips; a sister-in-law, Maxine Ramsey; nephew, Martin Murray; niece, Virginia Hess; her dog, Courtney; and 4 caregivers, Beverly, Gail, Mary 1, and Mary 2.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Rev. Garland O. Ramsey.

If you are reading this obituary and you have not yet confessed Jesus Christ as your Savior, Charlotte invites you to accept him as your Savior today so that you can be united with her at your death. This is a time of rejoicing! “How precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
