Obituary of Tony Eugene Pound, Jr.

Tony was born in Richland County and lived in Gaston, SC for the majority of his life. Tony could do anything he set his mind to. He was an over the road truck driver for more than 25 years, and also did mechanic work from his teenage years on.

Tony loved one hobby more than any other and that was racing. No matter if it was driving the car, working on the car or just being around all of the action and all of his friends, or watching NASCAR on TV. Tony loved racing and all of racing family.

Tony loved fishing also and enjoyed taking his family on fishing trips and camping. It’s one of his kids’ favorite memories.

Tony is the only son of the late Tony Eugene Pound, Sr. and the late Frances G. Sharpe (Pound) of Gaston. His paternal grandparents are the late Thomas H. (Buddy) Pound and the late Helen Pound of Gaston. His maternal grandparents are the late Herman Sharpe and the late Giola H. Sharpe (Austin). Tony is preceded in death by both of his parents, all of his grandparents and a cousin.

Tony is survived by his wife Mildred V. (Mill) Pound; their two sons, Tony Eugene Pound III, Jesse Lee Pound; two stepsons, Lawrence Anthony Crapps, Mark Andrew Crapps; two step grandkids Holly M. Crapps and Lawrence Anthony Crapps, Jr.; Tony’s sister Tori Rickenbaker (Earnest); his nephews, Justin and Eric; his niece Mandi; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his entire racing family.

Tony’s visitation will be at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington from 12 pm - 5 pm on Friday, June 3, 2022 with a brief 1 hour visitation on Saturday, June 4, 2022 before the service at 11 am. The service will be held at Harmony Baptist Church in Gaston, SC with Pastor Luke Beasley officiating.
