Obituary of Sibyl H. Cooper

Lexington - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Sibyl H. Cooper, of Lexington, SC on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the age of 78. She was surrounded by her husband, Ransom Cooper, of 30 years, her loving family and caregivers. One of her greatest joys and passions in life was always bringing her large blended family together to create special moments and share a great meal. She was the matriarch of her family, a strong role model, the glue that kept everyone close, and someone who was loved and cherished by all who knew her.    Sibyl was adored by many people. She was predeceased by her parents, L. Milton Hauser and Reba Bagwell Hauser; her siblings, Betty Hammond, Ann McKinney and John Hauser. She is survived by her husband, Ransom; sons, John Katsos (Cricket), Scott Katsos (Leigh); daughters, Christina Reynolds, Charlotte Robertson (Tommy); step-children, Jason Cooper, Joel Cooper, and Rachel Cooper; grandchildren, Michael Katsos (Lisa), Samantha Rowell (Josh), Emily Collins (Grayson), Justin Torrence, Ashley Sansone (Vince), Preston Sansone, Michael Sansone, Frankie Sansone, Shelby Cooper, Camden Cooper, Anna Reese Cooper Rankinand seven great-grandchildren.

Born in Forsyth County, North Carolina, she moved with her family to Spartanburg, SC.  After graduating from Spartanburg High School she attended Spartanburg Junior College and then spent numerous years bookkeeping in the construction industry. She went on to retire from the SC Banker’s Association after 18 years of dedicated service. Every month she looked forward to meeting with her Bridge Club friends to catch up and enjoy time together.

Sibyl was a devoted member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Abigail Circle. Furthering her love for children, she traveled to Belize for a mission trip where she served as part of the vacation bible school team.

She will be forever remembered, always loved, and will eternally hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.    On Friday, June 3, 2022 a visitation will be held beginning at 2:00 PM with a celebration of life service at 3:00 PM conducted by The Rev. Dr. Jim Glatz at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC
