Obituary of Sandra Lillian Gibson Areheart

Sandra Gibson Areheart of Columbia, SC died April 21^st, 2022 at her home. Born in Columbia on July 8^th, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Kester Gibson and Clara Moody Gibson Maher. She was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Columbia, SC.

She graduated from University High School in 1958 and was then employed in the office of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of SC as a secretary. She retired after 57 years of service and then spent her time enjoying her home and her kitties, especially Puddy. Sandra deeply loved her job in the Grand Lodge office and the employees. The Masons she met through the years were very important to her.

Surviving are: Daughter, Renee A. Thames (Joe); Grandsons, Michael Thames (Caitlin), Justin Thames (Hannah), Scott Areheart, Tyler Areheart; and Great Grandsons, Blake and Nick Thames and Greyson Areheart. She is also survived by her very dear friends Donna Ulsh of Missouri and “adopted” son, Allen Waites (Bonnie) of Irmo, SC and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Areheart; son, Len Areheart, and brother, Rudy Maher, along with her late parents.

A funeral service for Mrs. Sandra Areheart will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd. Lexington, SC, at 1pm on April 26^th, 2022. The family will receive guests beginning at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Mission, 127 Humane Ln. Columbia, SC.
