Obituary of Carole Ann Waites

Carole Ann Waites, 85, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on January 13, 2022, after an extended illness. Carole Ann was born in Spartanburg, SC to George Dewey and Lillian Bobo Windham.  

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Paul E. Waites, Sr.; her daughter, Susan Lynn Waites; and son, Keith Wayne Waites; as well as her parents.  She is survived by her son, Eddie; daughter, Marcia Roof (Jeff); son, Stephen (Karen); and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her only sister, Mrs. Jane Miles, with whom she shared a very close bond and will be missed dearly.  

Carole Ann was well known by her friends and neighbors for her passion of walking daily for over 60 years. She was a long time member of Northside Baptist Church, where she was in charge of the nursery for many years, as well as the Crisis Care Center, and later volunteered at Mission Columbia. She was also a member of the choir and the Silver Saints Choir at Northside. Carole Ann had a true gift of nurturing and volunteered for the Children’s Bureau of South Carolina for many years, fostering new born babies and toddlers, often caring for them for over 2 years before a home could be found for them.    She selflessly helped people in need throughout her entire life but never expected to be thanked or acknowledged for it.

She had a love for flowers and gardening, which was evident in her yard that was always full of beautiful colors. She will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to know her and what a truly faithful servant of God she was, never wavering in her faith but always standing firm that God’s Will would always be done. 

The family welcomes all friends and family to join them on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 11:00am at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W. Dunbar Rd W, West Columbia, SC to celebrate the life of Carole Ann Waites. The service will be officiated by Rev. Steve Cloud of West Columbia.
