Obituary of Anne Paisley Gehler

Anne Paisley Gehler, 85, quietly departed her earthly home in Columbia, SC on Thursday, January 13, 2022.

Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Rankin Beall and Anne Thompson Beall. She graduated from Dreher High School and attended the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (Greensboro) and the University of South Carolina. She was retired from the South Carolina Tax Commission.

Paisley had an active, thoughtful, and inquisitive mind. She enjoyed reading and adventures. She lived many places around the world but always returned to her beloved home state of SC. She was always happy and never met a stranger and loved her friends unconditionally. She had an unmatched caring and generous disposition. Nana Paisley cherished the times with her family, and especially her grandchildren, from dance recitals to baseball fields and everything in-between. She treated them and their friends as her own. Her favorite place was the beach, where she would sit on the porch and enjoy the tranquil breezes, ocean sounds, and conversations throughout the night. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Gehler was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Jacqueline B. Welch of Hopkins, SC.

Surviving are her husband, Lt. Colonel Kenneth A. Gehler of Columbia, SC; her brother, Bruce R. Beall (Kim) of Leesburg, VA; two children, Robert Bruce Moore (Tina) of Columbia, SC, and Leslie Moore Belk (Gene) of Sumter, SC; and a stepdaughter, Gigi Schwartz (John) of Atlanta, GA. Surviving grandchildren are Coleman Chase Belk and Mary Paisley Belk of Sumter, SC, Mary Ashley Michael (Matthew) of Columbia, SC, Morgan Taylor Moore, Savana Bobbi Moore, and Katelin Leslie Moore, all of Clinton, SC, and Davis Schwartz and Randal Schwartz of Atlanta, GA; as well as four great-grandchildren.

A heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Dr. Rosalind Vinson and Ms. Maria McFadden, who were always there for her and cherished her as a friend and family.
