Obituary of Juanita Helen Greer Teems

Juanita Helen Greer Teems, 93, of Columbia, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 31, 2021.  Nita, as she preferred to be known, was born February 1, 1928 in Boone, NC to the late Fred and Ruth Presnell Greer. 

Nita was married to the late Lt. Col. Ray Martin Teems (Ret). She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many; including those she and Ray met during his service in the Air Force.  Together, they enjoyed many rounds of golf and bowling.  Nita and Ray loved spending time with their grand and great-grandchildren. 

Nita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers, Ted R. Greer of Lenoir, NC and Ned Greer of Morganton, NC.  Surviving are her daughters, Judy T. Quarles (John) of Chapin, SC and Carolyn T. Warner (Lance) of Newport News, VA; her two grandchildren, Wendy Herring (Todd) and John Quarles, Jr. (Dana), both of Columbia, SC; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Herring and Kristopher Quarles; sisters, Louise Kincaid (Ben) of Lenoir, NC and Patti Lapinski (Jim) of Burke, VA; sisters-in-law, Genoise Greer of Lenoir, NC, Nell Miller of Vilas, NC, and Jean Teems of Vale, NC; brothers-in-law, Bob Teems of Pawley Island, SC and Bob Dotson of Kannapolis, NC; and her nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 2pm in Thompsons Funeral Home Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd. Columbia, SC 29209.  For those who can not attend, a TribuCast will be available starting at 2pm via the following link: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/5640246890 Family will greet friends starting 1 hour prior in the funeral home.  The burial will take place immediately following the funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
