Obituary of Margaret "Margie" Mather Hazel

Mrs. Margaret “Margie” Mather Hazel, 85, of West Columbia, passed after a short illness on December 21, 2021.

Margie was a loving wife and mother. She obtained her B.S. in Nursing from the University of South Carolina, and was a registered nurse with Lexington County for many years. Her compassion, caring, and encouragement were known by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Hazel; three children: Michael Hazel, Joey Rentiers, and Meg Hazel; two grandchildren: Heather Martin and Emily Mooneyham; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Elizabeth Ann Cooper. She was predeceased by her sister, Joey Lynette “Netsie” Wise; nephew, Tony Wise; and parents, Joseph and Marguerite Mather.

The family will receive visitors at 1:00pm on December 26, 2021, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Internment at Southland Memorial Gardens will follow.
