Douglas Lee Hodgin

Obituary of Douglas Lee Hodgin

Douglas Lee Hodgin (born April 28, 1953) of Columbia, SC, died peacefully on November 24, 2021.

Doug was quick-witted, gregarious, well-liked, and kind. These characteristics enabled him to become a successful life-long salesman. He loved golf so much that he sometimes took his young, M&M-crunching, Coke-slurping kids with him to all 18 holes. When Doug took them mini-golfing instead, he collected Ski-ball and pinball tickets for them in the arcade afterwards. The only reason he missed a single father-daughter sock hop was because he had a brain aneurysm. He camped with the Boy Scouts and chaperoned the Science Olympiad.  Although his affection for the family dog was obvious, he secretly threw foil balls and shared late-night snacks with the family cat.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Margie Hodgin. He is survived by a son, Greg Hodgin; a daughter, Gretchen Hodgin; one grandson; and three brothers: Gary Hodgin, Richard Hodgin, and Scott Hodgin. He also leaves behind a son-in-law, nieces, nephews, and some wonderfully loyal friends. He was well-loved and is terribly missed.
