Obituary of Nigel Manford Mahaffey, Sr.

Nigel Manford Mahaffey Sr., of Columbia, SC, passed away on November 28, 2021 at PruittHealth of Aiken, SC. A native of Greenville County, Nigel Sr. was born on February 8, 1936 to Nelson Mahaffey and Trulais Shelton Moon. A veteran of the US Navy, he worked as a welder and plumber, and was a devout Christian.

Nigel is survived by two sons, Richard Mahaffey of Columbia, SC, and Nigel Mahaffey Jr. of Greenville, SC; grandsons, Matthew Hill (Casey) of Spartanburg, SC, and Tyler Mahaffey (Erin) of Elberton, GA; former wife, Eloise Miller Bagwell of Columbia, SC; son-in-law, Tige Watts of Columbia, SC; three great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, and other family members.

Nigel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Morgan Mahaffey of Greenville, SC; three sons, Tony Wayne Mahaffey, of Chesnee, SC, Nigel Mahaffey Jr. of Columbia, SC, and Jerry Mahaffey of Greenville; and two brothers, Roger Mahaffey and Joseph T Mahaffey.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Mahaffey family.
