Obituary of Dean Ray Jumper

Retired Fire Captain of the Columbia Fire Department, Mr. Dean Ray Jumper, 57, peacefully went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

Dean Ray Jumper was born in Lexington County, SC on March 26, 1964 to the late Retired Chief of Police Laverne Jumper and Mary Jumper.

Dean was a member of the Columbia Fire Department for 27 years and was promoted to Captain of Ladder 7 Truck for where he was stationed for 16 years.

Dean loved hunting, fishing, and most of all his family. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Peggy Lynn Jumper; and his daughter, Savannah Lynn Jumper.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 10:00am-2:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Rd, Lexington, SC. A funeral procession escorted by the Columbia Fire Department will depart from the funeral home at 2:00pm, followed by a graveside service at 2:30pm at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W Dunbar Rd, West Columbia.
