Obituary of Jeanette Frances Coltrain

Jeanette Frances Coltrain, of Columbia, SC, was reunited with her late husband, Charles Edwin Coltrain on October 27, 2021. Born in Greer, SC on October 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James William Ford and Stella Mae Hawkins.

Jeanette met Charles during his military career with the U.S. Army. They immediately fell in love and celebrated more than 56 years of marriage. They loved to travel, often visiting friends and relatives or camping out together as a family.

A loving wife and mother, Jeanette was known for her beautiful spirit, cheerful outlook, and consideration of others. She was a longtime member of Woodfield Park Baptist Church, a talented cook, and a former Hallmark Card representative.

Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Tina Marie Coltrain of Columbia, SC; and her son-in-law, Rickey Lovejoy. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Diane Coltrain, who went to be with the Lord October 24, 2020. Jeanette also had four sisters, five brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The funeral will take place at the funeral home at 10:00am on Friday, November 5, 2021, followed by a graveside service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to benefit Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease research.
