Obituary of Shelba Gandy Thomas

Shelba Gandy Thomas, 83, of Columbia, SC, passed away October 10, 2021. She was born on October 1, 1938 in Pavo, GA to the late Wesley and Earline Gandy.

Shelba was preceded in death by her husband, William Horace "Bill" Thomas; her sister, Janice Gayle Hoke; brothers, Benjamin Harold Gandy, William Stanley Gandy, Lonnie Emerson Gandy and Wesley Lavaughn Gandy.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Thomas Meade; grandchildren, Peter Joseph "P.J."Meade (Jackie), William James Holian, and Cynthia Earline McKeown; and a great-granddaughter, Amalia "Lia" James Meade. Also surviving are her sisters, Linda Sellars and Kaye Lamb (Lester); and her brother, Winfred Gandy (Reba); along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Shelba was retired from Companion Property and Casualty as Senior Claims Adjuster. She was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. Her three grandchildren were the light of her life. She was loved by all and will be missed by many.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC, with burial to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W Dunbar Road W, West Columbia, SC 29170. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
