John Moccaldi

Obituary of John Moccaldi

John Moccaldi passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 23, 1943 to the late Philomena and Alfonso Moccaldi.  In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Moccaldi, his sister-in-law Diane Kappauf and his coffee drinking great niece Aurora Schmitt.

John is survived by the love of his life for 57 years, his wife Marie Kappauf Moccaldi, daughter Melissa Moccaldi Walker, son JohnMichael (John Mike) Moccaldi, his grandson, Kyle Walker, his devoted son-in-law Michael Walker, and his adopted son Shane Corder, his many sisters and brothers in-law, his favorite “Julie” and his all time first niece Laura Bianco Bhalla, nephews Ralph Bianco, Anthony Moccaldi, Michael Moccaldi, along with many other nieces and nephews.  He loved company, especially his “good friends”, which went along with food and eating out.

John was in the iron railing business for 62 years, the first 30 years as Artistic Railings in Bay Shore, New York, the second 32 years with his son John Mike as John’s Artistic Ironworks in Lexington, SC where they fought every day, just because that was them.  He absolutely loved his work and was devoted to it.  He couldn’t go home early because there was just one more job he had to measure.  He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of John’s great-niece Aurora Schmitt may be made to Happy Wheels, Inc. P. O. Box 406, Lexington, S 29071.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 3pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Woodridge Memorial Park.
