Dave was like a grandfather to me and I will always cherish the talks that we had on the front porch. He was a beautiful soul and an honorable man!

As one of his kids, there is an entire childhood and young adulthood of memories. The strongest memory I have was watching the jet takeoff from Newport News to take him from us to Vietnam for a year. It was a long year without him. Then we all ran out on the tarmac to hug him and welcome him back after the jet brought him back a year later.

I remember when dad taught me to drive a stick shift in his VW van. That thing got bouncing so much it felt like a small boat floating on a choppy lake. He was patient though and I finally got the hang of it.

Our father, born of Jewish parents, was a VERY patriotic man. He did not argue with his late wife when she opted for BLUE SHUTTERS and a RED DOOR on their new WHITE HOUSE. The flag pole was proudly placed in the front yard, 3rd house on the left as you entered their street, Old Glory flying. Flag Red was the great room, and flag inspired curtains with gold fringe added. Old Glory is prominent in most rooms of the house, including a wall paper border in one room. Eagles in abundance in the living room. A teddy bear in olive drab uniform was gifted to him at one time. You can rest assured his sound track will include plenty of Americana music.

Dave and my husband Mike were very close. They worked CAP radios together and numerous missions. It was so funny when they called each other on the phone . Dave was (Col Klink) and Mike was (sgt Shultz) we had many meals together at Fatz Cafe before and after Amanda passed. When Mike passed Dave was heartbroken he said it should have been him because he was older. Brieanna and I will miss you Dave or Mr Dave from Brieanna. Sure Mike n Amanda met you at heavens gates RIP my friend.
