Obituary of Ronald "Ron" Gene Akey

Ronald "Ron" Gene Akey, 65, of Camden, SC, was called home to his Lord Sunday, September 12, 2021. Ron loved his God, his wife, and his family with all of his heart, mind and soul.

Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years, Paula; his children, Josh (Gina), Jason (Angela); five grandchildren; numerous siblings, nieces & nephews. And, not to forget, his canine companion, Casper.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Marvin Akey; his in-laws, Joyce and Johnnie Davis; his brothers, Jerry and Cliff; and his brother-in-law, Daniel.

Ron was a veteran of the USAF as a Weapons Mechanic. Most of the rest of his second career was in automotive parts sales. But he would say his most important jobs were with his church as deacon, Sunday School teacher and working with the technical crew.

A service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm in the Fellowship Center. A private burial service will be at 4:00pm at Serenity Gardens, Columbia, SC.
